Outdoor Spots to Explore in the Seaforth Neighbourhood

The Seaforth neighbourhood is thriving with great outdoor spots, whether it’s for water activities, hiking, or golf. With its waterfront views and activities courtesy of Middle Harbour, to great day hike trails, and golf courses, one can never run out of leisure activities to do at Seaforth. Read on and check out what this neighbourhood might have in store for you.

Middle Harbour

Seaforth provides easy access to this great spot for fishing, whale and dolphin watching. If you chance upon a house for sale in Seaforth, good chances are you’ll have a great view of Middle Harbour and its boats cruising by. If you have free time on Wednesday afternoons, grab a seat overlooking Middle Harbour Yacht Club and watch as the yachts race.

If you are more into sports activities yourself, you can rent a boat or a kayak and explore the length of Middle Harbour. Weekends can get busy, but it does give off that lively atmosphere!

Sightseeing is also part of the Middle Harbour and Seaforth charm. The frequent dolphin and whale sightings are a great testament to the state of the Middle Harbour waters. From sea turtles in summer to penguins in winter, Middle Harbour is certainly a hangout spot for these wild animals.

Keen fishermen will also have a fantastic time throwing their lines in as mullets, big blue groper, yellowfin tuna, spotted mackerel and even salmon take up the bait.

For avid swimmers, there are two short strips of beaches you can take a dip in such as the Sangrado Pool at the end of Sangrado Street. There’s also a swimming enclosure near Pickering Point that can be accessed via Gurney Crescent, which is close to a home we’ve recently sold (https://www.clarkeandhumel.com.au/sell/sold-properties/93-gurney-crescent/.

Pickering Point

From the harbour and its endless water activities, the Seaforth neighbourhood is also blessed with a nearby hiking trail for nature lovers courtesy of Pickering Point in Morton National Park.

This 16-kilomotre trail is ready and waiting for hikers who want a quick exercise with a rewarding view. While it does have steep spots, it ends with a spectacular view at the top of the Byangee Mountain which is 506 metres above sea level.

This trail boasts of wildflowers along the route with clean creeks to provide you with refreshing drinking water. Reports have come in that the trail has been overgrown since the wildfires and it might not be as well-marked as before. That said, if you’re up for an adventurous, exploratory outdoor activity with a moderate level of hiking difficulty, Pickering Point trail is for you.

Try and allocate at least a full day to complete this 16-kilomotre hike and make sure you have enough in your day pack to sustain you on your hike. Given the changing beauty of this trail, you’ll never run out of discovering its seasonal charms.
